My dad paid $100 for the OTV and we put shimano mt200, 160mm brake discs wider handlebars vans cult grips and a saddle from on of my other bikes.Most of the components on the RHT are better than the $400 Walmart bikes, the Kent Trouvaille, Schwinn Axium, and Ozark Trail Ridge. SHIMANO SLX 2x11 drive trains were often found on $1300+ bikes from a few years ago. Most current bikes have moved to 1x11 and 1x12. WTB components are often found on $600+ bikes.
2 biggest differences I think are the internal dropper post routing and the lack of a kick stand. Ozark has two water bottle cage bosses, braze-ons in the back for a rack for hauling groceries or bikepacking. Trouvaille has that metal plate sticking out for the kick stand.I have a 29" Kent Trouvaille that I bought for my teen. The crank arm has failed TWICE. I need a bit of help figuring out what parts can be purchased to replace these subpar parts, and keep it from happening. There are about 250 miles on the bike over a life of 6 months. I received a replacement from Kent after it failed the first time 6 days ...First bike experience, my Kent Trouvaille rear derailleur attachment point was manufactured incorrectly, causing all sorts of issues no mater what adjustment was made. Not to mention the chain was routed incorrectly from the factory. Walmart sent me a replacement and before I returned it I compared both, you can clearly see the rear frame …The Kent Trouvaille was notorious for being shipped with the chain being routed wrong through the derailleur which will cause poop shifting. Seth from Berm Peak covered this, and Wolftick found one live at a Walmart during a video last fall. Here is a different shorter video on fixing this and proof it was an issue. I also like the dropper post and lockout suspension on the Axum. I'm probably leaning away from the Mongoose Ardor. I'm not sure if it would be large enough as I am 5'10". The Kent only has one bottle cage mount. I had to buy an aftermarket mount and I shouldn't have too. Without a rear rack mount, the Kent can't double as a grocery getter or a bikepacking bike. The OZT does. As previously mentioned, the Trouvaille has the better drive train. The Kent is a handsome bike with a subtle paint job.Base info: Budget: ~$400. Height: 5’ 5”.
